A broad education in design, visual studies and art history has led to my career in glass design and book illustration.
Much of my work draws on experience of rural landscapes, conservation and local history. I also enjoy holding community workshops and tutoring. My work may be commissioned as single pieces of work or as part of broader projects.
Enquiries are always welcome to discuss ideas or requirements.
I will be taking part in the annual 'North Yorkshire Open Studios' event in June this year. I have chosen to exhibit together with another artist, Fiona Bowley, who works in stone, at her studio at Thornton-in-Craven. The dates for this event are the weekends of 12/13 June and 19/20 June 2010. I look forward to seeing familiar and new faces - an opportunity to chat about stained glass generally and see examples of my work. Fiona's studio is in a very beautiful garden which, weather permitting, is an additonal exhibition area.
Over 2009 I have had a residency at Malham Tarn Field Centre as a part of a County wide project called 'Inspired by Heritage' funded by the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation, Harrogate Borough Council and Chrysalis Arts Development.
I have been working with Centre staff, visitors and local people to design and build stained glass panels focusing on the heritage of the Centre. The Field Centre and its beautiful setting is proving to be a great source of inspiration for my work.
The window is now almost complete. There will be an exhibition about the project (6 artists of different disciplines) at the Mercer Gallery, Harrogate from mid-June to mid-July 2010.
I have completed several larger projects over the last year: an internal foyer window for a primary school in York has been installed, having involved two student classes in workshops for the design; and a large glass cross has been installed as a focus for the renovated church at Bransholme, Hull, using a lightbox for a very brilliant effect!
I also have a series of glass panels hanging in the Herriot Gallery in Hawes, North Yorkshire. The gallery has a range of local crafts and artworks and offers delicious teas, coffee and cakes.

I have a new venue for courses based near Gargrave, North Yorkshire and will be setting up short courses there for the summer/autumn 2010.
